In 1948 Carole starred in the British film-noir The Silk Noose (also known as Noose). She had the leading role of Linda Medbury, an American fashion reporter who investigates a black market racketeer. Sadly this would be the last film she made before her death. The cast included Derek Farr (as Linda's longtime fiance), Joseph Calleia, Reginald Tate, Ruth Nixon, and Nigel Patrick. Derek Farr said of Carole "I enjoyed working with her enormously. Everyone adored her in the unit - she was a real Hollywood pro." The Silk Noose was directed by Edmond T. Greville. It was written by Richard Llewellyn who also wrote the stage play.
